Cost of college went up for all students at the New Jersey Institute of Technology

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.6 percent for 2018-19 at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New Jersey residents paid $17,338 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $440 more than the $16,898 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 88.9 percent more than residents this year, or $32,750. Their price tag grew 2.6 percent from $31,918 in 2017-18.

About 90 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New Jersey residents. About 6 percent are residents of other states and 4 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 92 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 898 students received grants or scholarships totaling $13.1 million and 478 students took out student loans totaling more than $4 million.

Including all undergraduates (11,423), 5,072 students used grants or scholarships totaling $66.2 million, and 2,728 students took out $18.9 million in federal student loans.
