Sigge Holmgren, a defenseman selected by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round (178th overall) of the 2025 NHL Draft, missed the entire 2024-25 season due to a shoulder injury that required surgery. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 181 pounds, Holmgren was unable to record any game statistics for Brynas IF’s J20 team during this period.
Looking ahead, Holmgren is set to return to Brynas IF with aspirations of earning a spot on their professional roster. However, he is expected to begin next season with the U20 club as he works his way back from injury.
Reflecting on being drafted by New Jersey, Holmgren said: “I’m super excited and very proud to be with this organization. I was at home chilling on the sofa and watching (the draft). Then I saw it and got super excited and proud.”
