New Jersey Devils forward Evgenii Dadonov has been placed on the Injured Reserve list after suffering a hand injury during the team’s season opener against Carolina. Medical imaging revealed that Dadonov, 36, sustained a fracture.

In response to Dadonov’s injury, the Devils have recalled forward Brian Halonen from their American Hockey League affiliate in Utica. Halonen, 26, played in two games for New Jersey last season. He spent most of his time with Utica, where he led the team with 27 goals and recorded 40 points with a plus-9 rating.

The team did not provide an expected timeline for Dadonov’s return.
