The New Jersey Devils secured a 5-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on October 19, 2025. The game began with a scoreless first period, highlighted by saves from Devils goaltender Jake Allen.

In the second period, Jack Hughes opened the scoring for New Jersey by maneuvering through three Oilers players and beating goaltender Calvin Pickard. Jesper Bratt added another goal for the Devils during a power play. The Oilers responded late in the period with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins cutting the Devils’ lead to one.

The third period saw Connor Brown score shorthanded against his former team, extending New Jersey’s advantage. Hughes netted his second goal of the game, giving the Devils a strong lead. Nugent-Hopkins scored again for Edmonton, but Dawson Mercer sealed the win with an empty-net goal. Curtis Lazar scored for Edmonton with two seconds remaining.

After the game, Connor Brown reflected on facing former teammates: “Connor Brown goes up against his close friends on the Oilers this afternoon.”

The Devils’ lineup featured Palat, Hughes, Bratt; Meier, Hischier, Mercer; Gritsyuk, Glass, Brown; Cotter, Glendening, Halonen as forwards and Hughes-Pesce; Siegenthaler-Hamilton; Dillon-Nemec on defense. Jake Allen started in goal with Daws as backup.

For Edmonton, their lineup included Nugent-Hopkins-McDavid-Mangiapane; Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Kapanen; Savoie-Frederic-Roslovic; Henrique-Tomasek-Lazar as forwards and Ekholm-Bouchard; Nurse-Stecher; Kulak-Emberson on defense. Calvin Pickard was in net with Skinner backing up.

This win marks another step forward for New Jersey as they continue their season campaign.
