Essex County Environmental Center issued the following announcement.

Little brown bats (Myotis lucifugus) and big brown bats (Eptesicus fuscus) are the most likely to roost in man-made structures. They’ve been given the nickname, “house bats.” 

Other NJ species that will make use of artificial places include northern long-eared bats (Myotis septentrionalis) and sometimes-even Indiana bats (Myotis sodalis), an endangered species throughout its range.
