By March 22, two organizations registered within Essex County had donated to the Black Lives Matter movement, according to the BLM Funding Database.

$451,000,000 was donated or pledged by these companies between 2020 and the present date.

Prudential Financial, Inc. pledged the highest donation among area organizations and businesses, claiming to commit $450,000,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Of the two organizations which pledged to donate to Black Lives Matter in recent years, one of them was confirmed to have fulfilled its pledge and actually donated the amount of money it said it would. It’s unclear or unknown if the other organization followed through with its pledges.

Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated $1,000,000 PSEG and the PSEG Foundation announced a $1M Powering Equity and Social Justice initiative to fight racial injustice and inequity. The initiative will support organizations that address the racial injustice, inequality and human rights in communities of color. The Powering Equity and Social Justice initiative will provide philanthropic support to “organizations in New Jersey, New York and anywhere PSEG operates.”
