Devils win over Blue Jackets in Prospects Challenge behind strong offensive showing

The New Jersey Devils defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 8-2 in a Prospects Challenge game held at Buffalo’s Harborcenter. The match featured strong offensive performances from several Devils players.

Mikhael Diotte opened the scoring for the Devils with a shot from the blue line, giving his team an early lead. Nathan Lecompte and Seamus Casey also contributed to the scoreline in the first two periods, with Diotte registering multiple points throughout the game. At the end of the first period, the Devils led 2-1, outshooting Columbus 14-4.

In the second period, Casey extended the lead before Williams scored for Columbus. Diotte responded with another goal for New Jersey, maintaining their advantage. After two periods, New Jersey was ahead 4-2.

The third period saw continued dominance by New Jersey as Dylan Wendt scored to make it 5-2. Lecompte added another goal, followed by Carrabes increasing the lead further after assists from Ethan Edwards and Tag Bertuzzi.

Lineups for both teams were announced prior to puck drop. The Devils’ roster included Lachance, Melovsky, Hameenaho, Filmon, Malone, Squires, Rozsival, Campbell, Wendt, Bertuzzi, Lecompte and Carrabes among forwards; Edwards, Casey, Hanzel, Diotte, van de Leest and Reid on defense; Brennan and Malek as goaltenders.

For Columbus: Pinelli centered a line with Keskinen and Dumais; other forwards included McCue-Williams-Sima and Mosley-Griffin-Hoffmann; defensive pairings were Richard-Elick and MacDonald-Bishop; Lalonde started in net with Gardner backing up.
