Matyas Melovsky, a promising center acquired by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round of the 2024 draft, is set to make his transition to professional hockey. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 190 pounds, Melovsky has demonstrated his potential during the 2024-25 season with Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the QMJHL. Over 57 games, he recorded an impressive tally of 26 goals and 57 assists, accumulating a total of 83 points.
Looking ahead, Melovsky will join Utica in the American Hockey League for the upcoming season. His performance in the 2024 World Junior Championship further highlighted his skills, where he contributed significantly to Czechia’s bronze medal win with 11 points (1 goal and 10 assists) across seven games.
In an interview with NJD.tv, Melovsky discussed his development and future prospects. He emphasized the need to adapt to professional play: “Being comfortable in battles on the boards. In pro, players are bigger and stronger. I need to be able to absorb contact better.”
