The New Jersey Devils faced the Philadelphia Flyers at Xfinity Mobile Arena, with the home team defeating the Devils 6-3. The game was broadcast on MSGSN and available for streaming on the Devils Hockey Network.

Timo Meier opened the scoring for New Jersey in the first period, capitalizing on a power play opportunity by lifting the puck past Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar. However, Philadelphia responded quickly. Noah Cates tied the game after putting away a rebound, and Matvei Michkov scored on a breakaway to give the Flyers their first lead. Tyson Foerster added two goals in rapid succession, allowing Philadelphia to score three times within 26 seconds and take control of the game.

In an effort to adjust defensively during the second period, New Jersey reworked its defensive pairings. Sam Kasan reported that Hughes paired with Nemec, Siegenthaler with Hamilton, and Dillon with Cholowski.

Bobby Brink extended Philadelphia’s lead early in the second period by scoring from the left circle. Nico Hischier narrowed the gap for New Jersey with a one-timer following a pass from Luke Hughes.

With just over six minutes remaining in regulation and an extra attacker on for New Jersey, Simon Nemec took a shot from the point that was tipped by Hischier to bring the Devils within two goals. Trevor Zegras then sealed Philadelphia’s victory by scoring on a breakaway.

The Devils’ starting lineup featured Meier, Hischier, Bratt; Gritsyuk, Mercer, Brown; Palat, Lammikko, Dadonov; Cotter, Glendening, Noesen up front and defensive pairs of Siegenthaler-Nemec; Dillon-Hughes; Cholowski-Hamilton. Jake Allen started in goal with Markstrom as backup.

For Philadelphia, forwards included Michkov-Couturier-Brink; Zegras-Dvorak-Tippett; Foerster-Cates-Konecny; Deslauriers-Abols-Hathaway. Defensemen were York-Sanheim; Andrae-Drysdale; Seeler-Zamula with Vladar starting in net and Ersson backing up.

After this result in Philadelphia—the City of Brotherly Love—the Devils will look to reignite their offense as they continue their season.
